What types of businesses need to be registered?

The following is a list of the common businesses that are registered by the BCAA according the BCAA Regulation 1 Article 9. Note that these businesses are registered throughout Washington state either by the Department of Ecology, or other air authorities.

Common facilities:
  • Abrasive blasting;
  • Asphalt manufacture (batch and permanent);
  • Cabinet manufacture/Wood and wood product manufacture;
  • Cement and Concrete manufacture (batch and permanent plants);
  • Rock Crushing Operations;
  • Dry cleaning facilities;
  • Gasoline dispensing and bulk loading;
  • Lithographic or screen printing;
  • Metal plating and anodizing operations;
  • Soil and groundwater remediation projects;
  • Solvent or stripping operation;
  • Automotive painting;
  • Other surface coating such as metal, cans, labels, coils, wood, plastic, rubber, glass, or paper
Process or Industrial Equipment
  • Boilers (except residential heating);
  • Paint booths or paint prep stations;
  • Flares;
  • Air Pollution Control Equipment (e.g. bag-houses, dust collectors, cyclones, wet/dry scrubbers);
  • Fuel burning equipment (except heating, A/C, or ventilating systems);
  • Degreasers;
  • Incinerators and waste oil burners;
  • Ovens and roasters (burn-out and heat-treat);
  • Stationary internal combustion engines and turbines (temporary and permanent), including backup electrical generators;
  • Storage tanks for organic liquids;
  • Stacks that emit air pollutants
Other Facilities
  • Metal Plating
  • Agricultural drying and dehydrating;
  • Casting and foundries;
  • Cattle feedlots;
  • Chemical manufacturing;
  • Crematoria or animal carcass incinerators;
  • Materials handling and transfer facilities;
  • Grain, seed, animal feed, legume, and flour processing operations, and handling facilities;
  • Hay cubers and pelletizers;
  • Hazardous waste treatment and disposal facilities;
  • Ink manufacturers;
  • Insulation fiber manufacturers;
  • Landfills, active and inactive;
  • Wood and wood product manufacturing (in-cluding paper);
  • Plastics and fiberglass product fabrication facilities;
  • Rendering plants;
