New Asbestos Temporary Waste Storage Permit

A person may establish a facility for the purpose of collecting and temporarily storing asbestos-containing waste material if an Asbestos-Containing Waste Material Temporary Storage Permit is issued by the Agency (Benton Clean Air Regulation I, Article 8, Section 8.08.B).

Asbestos-Containing Waste Material Temporary Storage Permits approved by the Agency are valid for one calander year (Benton Clean Air Regulation I, Article 8, Section 8.08.B.7). This application must be accompanied by a $75 non-refundable fee.

Furthermore, I do hereby certify that if a permit is issued, the responsible party will meet the following conditions:

  • Accumulated asbestos-containing waste material shall be kept in a controlled storage area posted with asbestos warning signs and accessible only to authorized persons.
  • All asbestos-containing waste material shall be stored in leak-tight containers, which are maintained in leak-tight condition.
  • The storage area must be locked except during transfer of asbestos-containing waste material.
  • Storage, transportation, and disposal of the asbestos-containing waste shall not exceed 90 calendar days, unless an extension is approved by the Control Officer.
